teve Wilmot passed away on August 7, 2026, at the age of 67. Born on September 2, 1958, Steve found happiness in the simple things that mattered most to him: his family, his work, his music, and being near the water. He was happy, smart, stubborn, and dependable—a man who knew what he liked, stood by the people he loved, and could always be counted on. Music was a constant part of Steve’s life. He loved southern rock and soft rock and was an especially devoted Jimmy Buffett fan. For Steve, good music and being near the water went hand in hand, and both were part of the life he enjoyed most. Steve spent more than 50 years in the pool industry with Winkler Pool Management. He began as a lifeguard and worked his way through every level of the company, learning the business from the ground up along the way. What began as a young man’s job became a lifelong career. Through decades of experience, hard work, and dedication, Steve built a career that reflected so much of who he was—knowledgeable, dependable, committed, and willing to put in the work. More than simply a job, Winkler and the pool industry became a defining part of his life and one he remained devoted to for more than half a century. Of all the roles Steve held throughout his life, none meant more to him than being a father. His sons, Spencer and Tyler, meant the world to him, and the love he had for them was immeasurable. They will carry with them a lifetime of memories—the ordinary moments, the laughter, the stories, the music, and all the pieces of their dad that will remain with them always. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Wilmot Jr. and Dorothy Hovatter Wilmot. He is survived by his sons, Spencer Wilmot and Tyler Wilmot; his grandchildren, Brooks and Hallie Wilmot; his sister, Debbie Stollery; his nephew, John Charles Stollery Jr.; and his niece, Jen Stollery. Steve lived simply, worked hard, loved the water, loved his music, and above all, loved his boys. He will be remembered for his happiness, his intelligence, his stubborn streak, his dependability, and for always being true to himself. His life was not defined by grand gestures, but by the people he loved, the career he built from the ground up, the music that was always playing, and the memories shared by those who knew him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on through Spencer and Tyler, through the stories they tell, through the family he leaves behind, and through the music and memories that will always bring a piece of him back. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Steve’s life on Friday, August 14, from 12 to 2 pm at American Legion Post 226, 830 Mayo Road, Edgewater, Maryland.
