S

teve Flury Death Notice Steven Henry Flury of Edgewater, MD passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side after a nine-month battle with cancer. He was born February 8, 1948, the oldest child of Frank P. Flury (deceased) and Betty J. Flury (deceased). Steve is survived by his beloved wife Dianne, his daughters Mary Sears and Erin Klisch (Mike), his brother Craig Flury (Elizabeth) and sisters Michelle Robbins (Geoff), Linda Flury Thomas (Dan) and Patti Sjolie (Frank), and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his dear mother-in-law Kate Grimes. Steve graduated from Northwestern High School in Hyattsville in 1966. He graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1971 with a B.S. in Business and Public Administration. He then went on to attend law school at the University of Maryland School of Law. Steve was a family man, an adventurer and a devoted Christian. He loved spending time with his wife, daughters, siblings, and nieces and nephews. He could always be counted on to lend a helping hand to all in his life. His extended family included his wonderful employees and his large church family. The joy of his life was spending time with his godson, Dylan. Steve traveled the world—biking, hiking, skiing and boating. He had a special fondness for France developed from his travels with his wife. Through all of his travels he made numerous friends and so enjoyed hosting and entertaining them at his waterfront home in Edgewater. Steve’s varied interests and hobbies also included that he was a pilot, “Wednesday night” sailor, avid tennis player, wine enthusiast, runner, and crabber and fisherman on the Chesapeake Bay and its rivers. His ultimate passion, even in his final days, was gardening. He was a hardworking and successful business person who threw all of his talents and energy into each endeavor. He started two successful businesses, Homestead Gardens then Atlantic Lighting and Irrigation. Atlantic will continue to be run by his wife, daughter and devoted employees. There will be a Celebration of Life at Chesapeake Christian Fellowship on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 9:00 AM located at 377 West Central Avenue, Davidsonville, MD 21035. Immediately following the Celebration of Life there will be a gathering (information to be provided at service). Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Chesapeake Christian Fellowship’s Mission Outreach Program in memory of Steve.
