tuart Lee Wishard, 81, a resident of Heritage Harbour in Annapolis, died on December 7, 2014 following a 4-year battle with cancer.
Born on August 27, 1933 in Hagerstown, MD to the late Joseph Avery and Emma Catherine Worthington Wishard, Stuart served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He made his career as a VP Mortgage Banker with several DC area banks.
Stuart lived in Fort Washington, MD for 40 years before retiring to North Topsail Island, NC in the early 1990s where he built a beautiful oceanfront home. He settled in Annapolis in 2000 to be near his grandchildren. Stuart was gregarious and friendly to all. He never met a stranger he did not like. Stuart was an excellent conversationalist who was well versed in current and past events. He attended various churches in the Annapolis area. He enjoyed traveling and playing slot machines. He was also an avid fan of the Washington Redskins and followed all sports, particularly golf and baseball.
Stuart was preceded in death by his brother, Donald “Buck” Wishard and sister, Doris Wishard Brumbaugh. He is survived by his loving wife of over 60 years, Wanda L. Shupe Wishard; two sons, Jefrey Stuart Wishard of Harwood and Gregory Stephen (Lorena) Wishard of Sherwood Forest; one brother, Edwin “Turk” Wisherd of Hagerstown; and three grandsons, Blake Alexander, Chase Hamilton and Clark Gregory Wishard.
Friends are invited to Stuart’s Life Celebration from 11 a.m. until his funeral service begins at 12 noon on Saturday, December 13 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
