usan Carole Packett, 60 of Edgewater, Maryland passed away on Feb 16, 2024, after a yearlong battle with cancer. Born on March 30, 1963, Sue was a devoted daughter, sister, wife and mother. Sue loved people from all walks of life. She was thoughtful, kind, and full of compassion. Her positivity was contagious and a constant source of strength for those around her. She was beautiful inside, and out. A ray of sunshine that brought joy to all who had the privilege to know her. Sue sought opportunities to love and serve others, even as she bravely fought her own illness. She was magnificent! Sue enjoyed life. She loved spending time outdoors; at the beach, hiking, kayaking. She loved to travel and experience new adventures. Sue was an avid reader and loved to share what she had read with her mother. She especially enjoyed hearing her husband and son play music together and would often be found in venues supporting them as they performed. It was her favorite place to be. But more than anything, Sue loved spending time with her family. Sue was a caretaker and loved being deeply involved in her children's lives and put her professional career on hold to do so. As she was raising her own children, Sue opened her heart and home to provide care for the children of numerous friends, family, and neighbors. She loved and cared for them as if they were her own children and was adored by every one of them. In her professional career, Sue worked as a Service Manager for multiple dealerships in the area. Most recently, she worked at Criswell Acura in Annapolis, Maryland. With her strong work ethic and friendly disposition, Sue built many relationships along the way. Her fingerprints are everywhere. Susan is survived by her husband of 40 years, Paul Wayne Packett, her daughters, Kelly Susan Packett, Melanie Carole Packett and her son Paul Julian Packett as well as her mother Carole J. Rader and brother Steven D. Rader. She is preceded in death by her father Charles A Rader and brother William C Rader. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Cedarhurst Community Center, 5187 Chesapeake Avenue, Shady Side, MD on March 6, at 4 pm. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org) or The American Cancer Society (donate.cancer.org). Condolences may be made by using the Memories tab on this page.
