usan Georgina Smith passed away on the morning of August 18, 2024, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease and dementia. Surrounded by her loving family, she left this world with grace and dignity. Born in England in 1947, Susan, along with her family, immigrated to the United States in 1980, bringing their boat-building business with them. Over the course of her 54-year marriage to Anthony Smith, Susan played a pivotal role in establishing one of the world’s most enduring catamaran manufacturing companies. Designing, building and selling thousands of boats over many decades, her partnership with Tony was not only a professional triumph but also a testament to their deep and enduring love. Susan was deeply involved in her community and cherished the opportunity to work alongside her children, Neil Smith and Laura Hershfeld, for over 15 years. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Olivia, Piper, Catherine, and Ethan, as well as her daughter-in-law Holly Smith and son-in-law Will Hershfeld. Susan’s life was marked by strength, resilience, and unwavering love. She will be remembered fondly and deeply missed by all who knew her.
