Susan Turner Sumpter - Obituary

usan Turner Sumpter, 59, a 30-year resident of Mayo, MD and previously of Great Falls, VA, died at Anne Arundel Medical Center on April 28, 2019, of colon cancer. Born May 26, 1959, in Great Falls, VA, to the late Constance Riddel and Mark Turner, Jr., she graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute with a bachelor of science degree in animal sciences, where is part of the meat judging team.. Following her graduation from college, Susan worked as a cancer researcher in Dulles, VA and an Account Manager at Williams and Wilkins Publishing. During the 1980s, she volunteered as an aerobics instructor at the YMCA. Susan enjoyed running, sewing, the ocean, and lighthouses. She is survived by her husband of 30-years, Elvis Lee Sumpter; three children, Troy William and James Alexander Sumpter, both of Mayo, MD and Sarah Constance Mannone of Halethorpe, MD; and a sister, Jean Lewin Turner of Los Angeles, CA.
