T

ammie Lynn Parker was born on December 15, 1964, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She was born to Grace M. Parker and Earl M. Parker. Tammie was raised in Washington, D.C. and Maryland. She graduated from Potomac High School (MD), graduating with the class of 1982. She attended the University of Maryland for two years before transferring to Bowie State University as a recipient of the Dr. Ronald E. McNair Scholarship. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Information Technology. Tammie began her career in the Federal Government at various agencies, including the Department of Defense and the Department of Treasury, where she worked for many years until her health declined due to a car accident which led to spinal surgery. Although her life was filled with physical challenges, Tammie never complained. She loved spending time with family and life-long friends that brought her the greatest joy. She was a member of the Ebenezer A.M.E Church, Fort Washington, MD. She was a women of great faith who found comfort in praying and reading the bible. One of her favorite scriptures is Psalm 118:28, “This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” She was such a lovely person who loved life and made friends wherever she went. Tammie was always ready to celebrate others and very generous in giving gifts to all. She lit up every room she came into and touched every soul with her infectious smile. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and ability to relate to people from all walks of life, always an advocate for encouraging people to be the best version of themselves. Tammie enjoyed music, going to concerts, dining out with family and friends, visiting art museums, traveling and relaxing on the beach. Close to her heart was her niece Tyler Christina and her nephew Terrence Christopher, whom she loved dearly and with whom she spent many holidays, celebrations, and school events which were never forgotten. Tammie was predeceased by her younger brother, Derrick Boyd. She leaves to celebrate her life, her mother Grace Parker, who was always at her side, her father, Earl Parker; sisters, Tina Williams (Terry Williams), and Aisha Parker; niece Tyler Williams, nephew Terrence Williams, aunts, uncles, cousins, two devoted friends, Veronica Workie and Gloria Better, devoted cousin Christie Wyatt, and many other relatives and friends. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Tammie's life on Saturday, January 12, 2019 from 11am until her funeral service begins at 12pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD 21037. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton, MD. Please take a moment and leave a condolence for the family.
