helma E. Jackman, “Granny”, age 91, a six year resident of Harwood, MD died on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at South River Health and Rehabilitation Center in Edgewater, MD.
Born on February 11, 1920 in Washington, DC, Thelma was raised and lived in Capitol Heights until moving to Harwood in 2005. She worked as a baker in the cafeteria at Capitol Heights Elementary School for many years. Thelma enjoyed playing bingo and traveling.
She was predeceased on April 29, 1968 by her husband, William Jackman, Sr., who owned Jack’s Distributors of Edgewater; also predeceased by four brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Daskowski; two sons, William Jackman, Jr. and Paul Jackman and a daughter in law, Lyn Jackman all of Harwood, MD; one brother, Thomas King, of Prince Frederick, MD; three grandsons, Bill and Mark Beckelman and Steven Daskowski; two granddaughters, Chris Cooksey and PJ Jackman; she is also survived by nine great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Friends are invited to Thelma’s Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Monday, September 5 from 6 to 9PM, where service will be held on Tuesday, September 6 at 10:00AM. Interment Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suitland.
