helma Jane Sears Saxon, “MiMi”, age 85, a resident of Annapolis who formerly lived in Sanford, FL, died November 3 at the Anne Arundel Medical Center after a brief illness.
Born on April 28, 1928 in Odenton, she was the daughter of the late Fletcher and Thelma Sears. She graduated from Annapolis High School and went to work as an administrative secretary for ECAC, NSRDL and finally the Honeywell Corporation from which she retired.
Mimi was a member of the Asbury Methodist Church in Arnold, Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority, Women’s Club of Sanford, FL and Central Florida Regional Hospital Auxiliary. She was an accomplished vocalist with the Baltimore Civic Opera and enjoyed quilting, sewing and shopping on QVC.
Mimi was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Bruce Saxon, whom she married in 1951 and who died in 1997. She is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Maloy of Annapolis and Janis Saxon-Bowden of Apopka, FL; and two grandchildren, Justin Randolph Bowden and Reilly Jane Maloy.
Friends are invited to Mimi’s Life Celebration from 3 to 4 p.m. and her funeral service at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, November 6 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. Interment private.
