Thelma Joyce Streicher - Obituary

helma Joyce Streicher of Fort Washington, MD passed away on April 14th , 2023. She was 87 years old. She was born on May 9th, 1935 to the late Kirby and Rosa Wright. She grew up in Sylvatus, Virginia before moving to Manheim, Pennsylvania as a teenager. That is where she would eventually meet her late beloved husband, Lloyd Streicher. It was love at first sight, and they soon married and started a family together. Thelma was the nicest person, and those who knew her knew she would have done anything for anyone. However, she was also a strong-willed person. She thrived on becoming a perfect wife and mother, in which she was. She worked at the Census Bureau from the late 1970s until retiring in 1994. Her hobbies included reading, Scrabble, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Along with her parents, Thelma is predeceased by her late husband Lloyd Streicher, her daughter Sharon Kay Fernando (Fred), her sister Alma Chapman (Gene), and her sister Janet Wilhelm (Gary). She is survived by her daughter Brenda Sue Streicher-George (Greg), grandchildren Megan Rose Fernando (Josh), Robyn Joyce Fernando Mau (Dane), and Justin Lloyd Fernando (Yaena), and great-grandchildren Kyrie Fernando and Joseph Fernando. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held on Monday, May 8th from 3:00-5:00 at Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory: 6160 Oxon Hill road Oxon Hill, MD 20745. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 9th promptly at 1:00 PM at Cheltenham Veteran’s Cemetery: 11301 Crain Hwy, Cheltenham, MD 20623.
