Theodore Elliot - Obituary

heodore M. "Ted" Elliot, 80, of Annapolis, MD died on August 26, 2014 due to complications from vascular disease. Born in Champaign, IL on May 1, 1934 to the late Benjamin and Gertrude Elliot, Ted enlisted in the U.S. Army at age 17. He was a paratrooper during the Korean War and part of the 1st Battalion 503rd Airborne Infantry Regiment, 7th Division where he received two Bronze Stars. In 1958 he moved to Maryland where he worked as an automobile salesman with Standard Pontiac in College Park, MD. He also worked for Lustine Chevrolet, also in College Park, as well as Ron Bortnick Ford in Upper Marlboro. Ted loved his Redskins and the Orioles and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of many fraternal organizations, most notably, the Moose Lodge and the American Legion of College Park, MD. He was a good friend to many and always lent a helping hand to those in need. In addition to his parents, Ted was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Sue Haas Elliot, who died on January 9, 2009; one brother, Robert (Barbara) Elliot; two sisters, Jean (Frank) Land and Dorothy (Bob) Rardin. Ted is survived by two sons, Edward and Kenneth Elliot; two daughters, Donna (Michael) Moore and Yvonne Elliot; one brother, Richard (Jacquelyn) Lankford; two sisters, Helen (Richard) Brownfield and Nola Henderson; four grandchildren, Kevin and Jessica Moore and Michaela and Angela Elliot and one great-grandson, David Elliot. Friends are invited to Ted's Life Celebration on Thursday, September 4 from 6pm until his memorial service begins at 7pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
