Theresa J. Sanford - Obituary

heresa Sanford, 88, of Edgewater, MD passed away peacefully on January 20, 2017. Born on October 3, 1928 in Washington, DC to the late Richard and Agnes Woodburn, Theresa was one of nine children. She was a homemaker who treasured her time with her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her interests included the Redskins, spending time with friends and family, and visiting casinos to play Blackjack. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, John “Jack” Sanford; her son, J. Michael (Nancy Lacy) Sanford; her daughters, Kathy (John) Lilly and Teri (Paul) DeVito; her brother, Joseph "Tootles" Woodburn; her grandchildren, Jared (Katie) Lilly, Dustin and Jon Lilly, Kara (Joe) Feheley, Darren (Rachel) Sanford, Paul, Brian and Casey DeVito as well as her great-grandchildren, Sean Lilly, Joseph Feheley and Davis Sanford. Friends are invited to celebrate Theresa’s life on Monday, January 23, from 11 am until her Catholic Funeral Service begins at 1 pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. Interment will be private at a later date at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham, MD.
