T

homas C. Allder, Sr., 72 of Annapolis, MD, formerly of Fort Washington, MD, passed away peacefully on July 15th at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis. Mr. Allder, husband of Myrna (Robey) Allder, was born in Washington DC in 1940 to the late H. Clifford Allder and Regina McCloskey; brother to the late Carol Allder Dutko. Tom grew up in Chevy Chase, MD and attended Gonzaga and Bethesda Chevy Chase High Schools. He was a graduate of the University of Maryland and was a member of the Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity. He attended the Maryland School of Law, Baltimore and was a Clerk for the Montgomery County Circuit Court in Maryland. Tom was employed for more than 30 years by the Washington Post as a Circulation Manager, retiring in 2001. He was a past member of the Tantallon Country Club in Fort Washington, MD, and most recently he enjoyed his retirement working and playing golf at the Potomac Ridge Golf Course in Waldorf, MD. Outside of work, Tom enjoyed spending time with family and friends whether it be playing golf, traveling, telling and listening to good stories, or relaxing with his dog Kirby, affectionately known as “Boomer”. He especially enjoyed his lunch dates with his beloved Myrna for whom he shared a deep love and friendship for many years. They were to celebrate their 28th wedding anniversary on July 19th. Tom cherished traveling to Rhode Island to visit his children and grandchildren, frequently making the drive North with a bushel of steamed Chesapeake Bay crabs to share with family and friends. He was a devoted friend to many, and loving father to Thomas C., Jr., his wife Catherine, Matthew V., his wife Kristin, and Elizabeth J. Allder-Wordell, of Little Compton, RI and Charlene Robey of Annapolis, MD. Grandfather of Joshua, Jessica, Samuel, Claire, Rebecca and Benjamin, all of Little Compton, RI. A private memorial service is planned.
