Thomas Beard - Obituary

homas “Tom” Richard Beard, 64, a resident of Edgewater, MD for over 28 years and previously of Camp Springs, MD died July 2, 2008 at his home of cancer after a 1 year illness. Born September 3, 1943 in Washington, D.C. to Edith R. Beard and the late John Kenneth Beard, Jr. He was in National Guard from 1965-71 as a Non-Commissioned Officer. He was employed fro 45 years at B. Franks Joy Co., Inc.; he was played many roles from supervisor to division manager and most recently in safety and planning, training and inspection. He owned and operated Laidback Charter Boat Fishing. He was secretary for the Anne Arundel Waterman's Association, a Coast Guard Licensed Captain, he operated charter fishing trips in his later years, he was also a sixth generation native Washingtonian. His hobbies included bay fishing, crabbing and waterfowl hunting. Beloved husband of Pamela Beard; father of Thomas R. Beard, Jr. of Willards, MD, Jeffrey Brandt of West Palm Beach, FL, David Brandt of Pasadena, MD, Theresa Beard Freni of Berlin, MD and Denise Thorpe Knott of California, MD; brother of James Beard of Edgewater, MD, John Beard of Alexandria, VA, Robert Beard of Yankton, SD, Stephen Beard of Fulton, MD, Catherine Harman of Capital Heights, MD, Joanne Moore of Pittsburgh, PA and Mary Ellen Andrews of Tuxedo, MD; also survived by 7 grandchildren; nephew of Robert and James Twynham; cousin of Doris Twynham and Louise Ewell. Friends are invited to Tom's Life Celebration on Monday, July 7, 2008 from 2:00 P.M. until time of memorial service at 3:00 P.M at the George P.
