homas Lee “Tom” Curran, 80, a resident of Edgewater, MD for 53 years, passed away, due to cancer, at his home on Saturday, December 12 with his family by his side. Born on September 3, 1940 in Washington, DC to the late Philomena and James Curran, Sr., Tom was a graduate of Archbishop John Carroll High School in DC. After graduating, he went to drafting school and then worked at Washington Gas for almost 40 years. He began his career as a draftsman and retired as an Operations Manager in 1997. Tom also served in the Maryland Army National Guard, was a charter and life member of the Deale Elks Lodge #2528, a member of American Legion Post 226 in Mayo, and a member of Moose Lodge 622 in Keyser, WV. He enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends, fixing things around the house, working on cars, and “tinkering” on projects in the garage. Tom spent many summers waterskiing and boating on the Rhode and West Rivers; he especially loved the weekends at “the raft”. He is survived by his wife, Cecelia Pernia “Ceal” Curran whom he married on August 31, 1968; his daughters, Alicia and Mia Curran and Theresa (Mitch) Lomax all of Edgewater, MD; his brother, James Curran, Jr. of Burtonsville, MD and his grandsons, Ryan and Mason Lomax. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Hwy., Pasadena, MD 21122 or American Legion Post 226, P.O.
