Thomas P. DeVito, Jr. - Obituary

Thomas P. DeVito, Jr., 83, of Swan Point MD passed away peacefully on Monday, January 31 at his home surrounded by his family. Born on March 15, 1938 in Washington, DC to the late Hattie and Thomas P. DeVito, Sr., Tom graduated from St. Anthony’s High School in Washington DC and joined the Electrical Union Local 26 where he had a long, successful career as an Electrical Contractor. In 1959, he married the love of his life, June, and they enjoyed 62 loving years of marriage. Tom had a knack for handiwork and was the first call whenever one of his sons presented a project they wanted to start. His happiest moments were spent with his kids and grandkids watching sports, golfing, and spending time at their Ocean City beach house. Many weekends you would find him in Cobb Island enjoying crabs, taking the boat out, or finding another project to start. Tom’s wit and spirit are going to be most remembered by his friends, as he had formed so many long lasting friendships during his time spent with us. Tom was the beloved husband of June H. DeVito; loving father of Paul (Teri), Tony (Joann) and Mike DeVito; wonderful “Pop Pop” to Paul (Nagela), Brian, Joe, Casey and Erica DeVito; brother of Gloria Otley and the late Kathleen Smith and Theresa Morgan. Friends are invited to celebrate Tom's life at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Sunday, February 6 from 2 to 5 pm and at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 15848 Rock Point Rd., Newburg, MD 20664 on Monday, February 7 from 9:30 am until Mass of Christian Burial is offered at 11 am. Interment will follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 15848 Rock Point Road, Newburg, MD 20664.
