Thomas Farah - Obituary

HOMAS FARAH (Age 89) On Tuesday, November 3, 2009, of Fort Washington, MD; beloved husband of Doris E. Farah for 57 years, and devoted father of two sons, Thomas and William. Born January 5, 1920, in Mt. Olive, NC, to Diab and Nazira Farah, he was raised in Clinton, NC, the third of seven children. After service in the U.S. Marine Corps, he joined his brothers in Washington, D.C. in the late 1940s, where he met and married his wife, Doris E. Grassi, in 1952. They continued to live and raise their family in the Washington Metropolitan area. In 1995, he retired as Chief Zoning Inspector for the District of Columbia. In addition to his wife and sons, he is survived by a brother, George Farah of Arlington, VA, a sister, Marie Beard of Raleigh, NC, and 14 nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to Mr. Farah's Life Celebration on Sunday, November 8, 2009, from 2 to 4 p.m. at GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 6160 Oxon Hill Rd., Oxon Hill MD, with prayers at 2:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Mary, Mother of God Catholic Church, 727 5th Street, NW, Washington, D.C., Monday, November 9, 2009 at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, 8000 Woodyard Road, Clinton, MD.
