homas Richard “Rick” Gorman, Jr., 54, a lifelong resident of Edgewater, died May 29 at his home following a 6-month battle with cancer. Born on March 7, 1960 in Cheverly to the late Barbara L. “Punky” and Thomas R. “Tom” Gorman, Sr., Rick was a career electrician. He worked most recently for Truland Systems and previously for Dynaelectric. Rick was a Little League football coach and an avid Orioles fan. He also enjoyed baseball, golf, boating and poker. In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Richard “T.R.” Gorman, III who died in 2004. He is survived by two sisters, Christina Gorman Gammon of St. Mary’s County and Danielle Gorman Trainum and her husband, Mark of Calvert County; his companion, Susie Anderson of Edgewater; her children, Tyler Bruffy of Annapolis, Timothy Ballard and Shantelle Nease, both of Riva and Crissy Anderson of West River; and her grandchildren, Maguire and Jamison Ballard and Megan and Alyson Cole; also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Friends are invited to Rick’s Life Celebration from 4 p.m. until his memorial service begins at 6 p.m., Thursday, June 5 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Research Institute at www.cancerresearch.org.
