homas C. “Tom” Hopkins, Jr., 82, a lifelong resident of Edgewater, MD died on Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Born, April 27, 1926 in Annapolis, MD, he was a graduate of Annapolis High School. Following his service in the United States Navy during WWII, he worked as a research scientist at the Johns Hopkins University Chesapeake Bay Institute. After 35 years of service, he retired from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, where he worked in Water Quality Control. Mr. Hopkins' memberships included All Hallows Episcopal Church, Annapolis Civitan Club, Freestate Fly Fishers Inc. and Chesapeake Bay Radio Control Club. He enjoyed hunting, fly fishing and radio controlled airplanes and boats. He was the beloved husband of the late Geraldine A. Hopkins, who died in August 2006; father of Thomas C. Hopkins, III and Jerri Anne Hopkins, both of Edgewater, MD; he is also survived by 2 grandchildren and 1 great-grand daughter. Friends are invited to a celebration of Mr. Hopkins' life on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 122 Bayard Road, Lothian, MD 20711. Interment private.
