Timothy E. Liff - Obituary

T

imothy Eugene Liff, 61, of Alpharetta, GA, went peacefully to his eternal home on August 4, 2021. He fought ALS courageously and with unfailing joy until his very last day. Tim was born on May 6th, 1960, in Washington, D.C. After graduating from Montgomery Blair High school, he began his career as a sales representative with a large boat manufacturer/distributor. He eventually pivoted to the advertising industry, where he spent the bulk of his career in a variety of sales roles. He truly enjoyed his time spent mentoring and coaching his sales teams. On Valentine’s Day of 1986, Tim met Carla Petriw at a wedding, and in April of 1988, the two were married. The couple began their life in Bowie, MD, where they welcomed their son, Keegan, and their daughter, Kelsey, before relocating to Alpharetta, GA in 2002. Tim was a devoted father and husband, and he was happiest when surrounded by his family. He could always be found on the ball field, pool, or at a dance recital, serving as a coach, water boy, announcer, or enthusiastic parent. Tim was an avid sportsman, and he particularly loved watching NASCAR and pulling for both the Washington Nationals and the Redskins. He loved playing golf, traveling, boating, listening to Jimmy Buffet, and family vacations to Fenwick Island, DE or the Florida beaches. Tim had a strong faith and an unmatched zest for life coupled with a keen sense of humor and an ability to fix anything. He will be remembered for his boisterous laugh and his adventurous spirit. Tim’s goal in life was to make others smile, and he did just that. In his final years, he loved participating in ALS Support Group meetings where he connected, encouraged, and deeply cared for his fellow ALS Warriors and families. Tim is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Carla; daughter, Kelsey of Alpharetta, GA; son, Keegan and his wife, Shelton, of Marietta, GA; and his granddaughter, Cecilia of Alpharetta, GA. He is also survived by his mother and father, Barbara and Donald Liff of Annapolis, MD; sisters, Donna Walsh and husband, Jim, of Annapolis, MD; Rosemary Kirwin and husband, Scott, of Rosedale, MD; brother, Terrence Liff and wife Gail of Davidsonville, MD; mother-in-law, Marcelle Petriw of Altamonte Springs, FL; sister-in-law, Suzanne Teague and husband, John, of Maitland, FL and many special nieces, nephews, and cousins as well as great-nieces and great-nephews. The family wishes to express special thanks for the love, care, and tireless support given to Tim by the Emory ALS Clinic, the ALS Association of Georgia, his church family at North Point, and the countless other friends and neighbors. A service to honor and celebrate Tim’s life will be held on Tuesday, August 31st at 2pm at North Point Community Church, 4350 North Point Parkway, Alpharetta, GA 30022. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Young Life of West Cobb, P.O. Box 801472, Acworth, GA 30101 or the ALS Association of Georgia, 5881 Glenridge Drive, Suite 200, Atlanta, GA 30328. Condolences may be made by using the tab on this page.
