Feb 17, 1928 - Apr 28, 2017
n Friday, April 28, 2017; the beloved wife of the late CPO Cornelio T. Requidan, USN (Ret.); mother of Ailsa (Jerry) White, Rocky Mount, NC and Ricky (Margaret) Requidan, Mineral VA went home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She is also survived by four grandchild, Erik (Veronica), Peter (Abby), Stephanie, and Melanie and five great-grandchildren, Livy Haas, Penny Haas, Sophia Requidan, Emma Requidan, and Lucas Requidan, many other relatives and friends. She was born in Castillejos, Zambales in the Philippines to the late Mariano Garcia and Magdalena Pasqual. Trinidad was a strong willed, hard working, tenacious woman who loved her family deeply. She loved knowing and meeting people from all walks of life. She was a lifelong learner, reading everything she could, to become knowledgeable of things she did not know well and working hard to earn her GED at night. Those character traits allowed her to achieve success in her personal and working life and fulfill her dreams for herself and her family. Her early life in the Philippines was filled with hard work and fun. As a teenager she worked for the town mayor as a secretary where she developed her skills in office work. This experience formed the foundation of her working career in America as a Sales Audit associate at Woodard & Lothrop for 30 years. During the Japanese occupation of her country and town she learned to survive a reeducation camp. After the war and humble beginnings, she married Cornelio T. Requidan on 8/28/1952 who was a superb chef for admirals in the U.S. Navy. With courage and strength she left the Philippines with her first born daughter, Ailsa, for America. She sailed across the Pacific Ocean not knowing anyone to join her husband in a new country where she forged a life as a navy wife. Although during her lifetime she faced many adversities, what showed her courage, strength, and hope was being a uterine cancer survivor at 76 years old. She was an example of not letting something life ending as cancer diminish her spirit. Because of frugal and wise ways, she and her husband acquired a lake home that now serves as the gathering place for the family. This legacy is a testimony of their celebratory life in America. We will miss her devoted love and wise counsel as we navigate life without her. Friends may call at GEORGE P.
