Vaughn "Pete" Thomas - Obituary

aughn Edward “Pete “ Thomas, Jr. passed from this life on Tuesday the 22nd of August, 2023 from a long battle with cancer. Pete was born on May 6, 1945 to Pete Sr. and Betty Thomas of New Castle, Delaware. Pete was drafted into the United States Army where he served in Vietnam. Pete met his wife, Sharon Penney, in Ocean City MD on the 5th of July 1968 and they were married on May 17, 1969. From that union they had Mike Thomas (Kristine Thomas), Paul Thomas (Christy Thomas) and Todd Thomas. He had three grandchildren that he loved very much; Brandon Thomas, John Thomas and Madison Thomas. Pete and Sharon lived in Cheverly MD then relocated to Edgewater MD to be closer to where the kids all lived. Pete worked as a Fraud Investigator for the Bank of America for over 30 years. He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, an organization he was very proud of being a member of. Pete and four others started the Red Beret Junior Lodge that is part of the IOOF. Pete was known for his pearls of wisdom one being ‘Here’s to you and here’s to me and may we never disagree but is we do the hell with you here’s to me.” In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Pete’s name to Wreaths Across America. Family and friends are invited to join in Pete’s life celebration on Wednesday, September 6 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Kalas Funeral Home and Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 7 at 1:45 PM at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 1122 Sunrise Beach Road, Crownsville.
