ernon Davis, 85, of Annapolis, Maryland passed peacefully at his home with his wife of 66 years by his side on Monday December 7, 2020 from cancer. He is survived by his wife Mary Davis, sons Randy Davis and Greg Davis, daughter in-laws Dias Davis and Julie Davis, sister Mary Liz Downer, brother Jack Davis, grandchildren Melissa Palmer (and her husband Tom Palmer), Jackie Fox (and her husband T.J. Fox), Jessica Ford (and her husband Jason Ford), and Tanner Davis, and great grandchildren Shane Ciccarelli – Palmer (and his wife Sonia Palmer), Grace Palmer, Gabby Fox, “Trey” Fox, Victoria Ford, Olivia Ford, and Nathan Ford. Vernon was born and raised in Covington, Virginia by his parents Mary and Earl Davis, who are deceased. Included in his immediate family were brothers Alvis and Eddie, and sister Ann, each of whom are deceased. Vernon moved to Maryland with wife Mary and first son Randy in the 1950’s. He had a very successful rewarding career working in the construction industry primarily as a heavy equipment operator until he retired in 2007. His joys in life included spending time with his family, traveling, and “tinkering” on vehicles and items around the house. He always made everyone smile, and he was kind to each person he met. As well, he regaled many with tales of his life including such events as riding his motorcycle inside of his high school, running up the stairs all the way to the top of the Washington Monument, digging the deepest construction trench in Anne Arundel County (at the time), and many more thrilling moments. It’s certain he’s now sharing more stories and enjoying a cool beverage with those he has not seen in years. He will be missed by his family and all whom he met in life. Rest in peace. Services will be held at the Kalas Funeral Home and Crematory in Edgewater, Maryland on Monday, December 14 beginning with a viewing at 10:00am, followed by a ceremony at 11:00am, with burial to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Annapolis. An online guestbook is available at www.KalasFuneralHomes.com.
