incent Corozine, 88, of Edgewater, MD went home to be with the Lord, whom he so faithfully and joyfully served, on Monday, March 20, 2023. He was born and raised in Peekskill, NY on February 5, 1935, to Nicholas and Carmella Corozine (Spiotti). He graduated from Peekskill High School in 1953 and then from SUNY Potsdam, NY with a degree in Music. He taught in East Hartford Connecticut before serving in the US Army stationed at West Point. He earned a master’s degree from Columbia University. Vince was a teacher and director of music in the Peekskill School system for many years leading an award-winning marching band. In the late 1970s, Vince became the Professor of Music at The King’s College in Briarcliff Manor, NY. Vince invested his time and enthusiasm for music so generously in the lives of his many students. In the 1990s, Vince became a Professor of Music Industry Studies at Elizabeth City State University in North Carolina, teaching students about the commercial music industry and again leading an award-winning marching band. In 2004, Vince relocated back to NY where he continued to compose and direct music, including involvement in the Norm Hathaway Band. In addition to teaching and mentoring so many students, Vince studied music composition with a professor of the Julliard School of Music in NY and a number of composers including Jimmy Giuffre. Vince’s music achievements included arranging for the Jazz Knights at West Point, serving as Music Director for the annual Thanksgiving Parade in Philadelphia, and conducting members of the Toronto Symphony, Hong Kong Philharmonic and Philly Pops in recording sessions. Vince was commissioned by Youth with the Mission (YWAM) to compose a score for “Toymaker and Son”, produced in 26 countries. Additional compositions with YWAM included “Triumph” and “Tribute”, recorded in Hong Kong. Vince’s most recent composition is “Creation”, a 28-minute masterpiece in four movements. As an author, Vince wrote “Arranging Music for the Real World” and “Jazzin the Blues”. He also wrote “Jazzin the Accordion” with Mario Tacca. Vince’s newest release “Encounters with Life” presents a humorous look at contemporary culture and Vince’s insightful and funny observations of events in his life. Vince has many other creative endeavors that have blessed and entertained many, those of which are too numerous to mention, including the honor of being inducted into the National Blues Hall of Fame in 2013. He played sax on the church worship team, led studies in men’s ministries, and was devoted to studying God’s Word. He is survived by his wife, Norma Corozine of Edgewater, MD and three children, Steve Corozine of Brewster, NY, Regina Crosley of Edgewater, MD, and Matthew Corozine of Miami, FL. His two brothers, Nick Corozine of Greenville, SC and Richard Corozine of New Paltz, NY, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren are all part of the family that he so loved and was devoted to. Vince is remembered for his high energy, interest in people, love of music, creativity, and always met everybody with a smile and a joke. Memorial service will be held at Riva Trace Baptist Church, 475 W. Central Ave., Davidsonville, MD on Friday, March 24 at 11 am. Condolences may be made by using the Memories tab on this page.
