iola Anna Granofsky, 87, a 10-year resident of Edgewater, MD and previously of Landover, MD, died March 16, 2011 at Anne Arundel Medical Center of renal failure.
Mrs. Granofsky was an extraordinary and creative homemaker who cooked gourmet meals, tended her garden, re-upholstered her own furniture and spackled walls. She designed and sewed her children’s clothes throughout their lives, including prom and wedding dresses. She was the seamstress for the Patriots of Northern Virginia, a 500-member marching and colonial music organization. She also created beautiful wedding and designer cakes. Viola delighted everyone with her laughter, even while in the emergency room. Viola is home with her Lord Jesus and smiled when she took her last breath.
Viola was the beloved wife of George W. Granofsky of Edgewater, MD for 70 years; mother of Eileen Lyle of Edgewater, MD, George W. Granofsky, Jr. of Arlington, VA, Alan Granofsky of Stonewood, WV and the late Nanette Evans. Also survived by 8 grandchildren: Scott, Devin, Dustin, John, Nathan, Anna, Daniel and Mary and her great-granddaughter, Skyler. A memorial gathering will be held at a later date. Interment private.
