iola Bullock Sorrell Viola “Betty” B. Sorrell, a 30 year resident of Deale, MD and previously of University Park, MD, died at her home on Saturday December 20, 2008 due to congestive heart failure. Betty was 89. Born September 6, 1919 in Washington, D.C. to the late Albert I. and Viola E. Bullock, she graduated from Eastern High School in Washington, D.C. Prior to Betty raising her family, she worked at the FBI Headquarters in the Identification Division. She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Lothian, she loved baseball and football, and was a avid fan of the Washington Senators and Washington Redskins. She also loved to play bridge, and loved animals, especially Irish Setters. She is survived by her husband W. Byron Sorrell, whom she married in 1941, her children John B. and Joan E. Sorrell, both of Edgewater, MD. Betty was preceded in death by her only brother Dr. Albert E, Bullock. She is also survived by her grandsons, Samuel J. Worsham of Edgewater, and Christian B. Worsham of Shadyside, MD, and her great-granddaughters Grace and Faith Worsham, both of Shadyside, MD. Friends are invited to Betty's Life Celebration on Friday, December 26, from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD 21037. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at 11am at St. James Parish, 5757 Solomons Island Rd., Lothian, MD. Interment will be in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Cape St. Claire Vol. Fire Co. 1411 Cape St. Claire Rd., Annapolis, MD 21409 (Online here) or to a Animal Rescue Charity of one's choice.
