iolia Marie “Vi” Ciancaglini, 80, a 52-year resident of Annapolis, MD and previously of Utica, NY passed away at her home on Thursday, December 23, 2021, surrounded by her family. Born on July 3, 1941, in Cadyville, NY to the late Emmitt and Effie Ryan, Vi earned a master’s degree in Elementary Education from Bowie State University. She retired from the Anne Arundel Public School system after teaching at Edgewater Elementary School for 22 years. Prior to that, she worked at the US Naval Academy’s Lejeune Hall for 6 years and was a teacher’s aide at Hillsmere Elementary School from 1970-1982. Vi was a parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Edgewater. She was also a former coach for the Hillsmere Swim Team. One of her great pleasures was dining with a group of friends who called themselves the BTA (Big Tippers of Annapolis). Her passion though was her family and simply spending time with them. Vi is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, William T. Ciancaglini; her three children, William Ryan and Robert Ryan (Dawn) Ciancaglini, both of Annapolis, and Beth Anne Ciancaglini of Chester, MD. She is proceeded in death by two brothers, Charles (Rhada) Ryan of Plattsburg, NY and Thomas (Annie) Ryan of Apache Junction, AZ; five sisters, Margaret (Kelly) Dickenson of Watertown, NY, Theresa (Everest) Trudeau and Barbara (Bob)Robare, both of Cadyville, NY, and Gertrude (John) King and Joyce (Ray) Myers, both of Utica, NY. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Dr. Robert (Corinne) Ciancaglini of Hershey, PA, Zachary (Katie) Lucas of Edgewater MD, Joseph (Kelly) Ciancaglini of Stevensville, MD and Kallie Marie Lucas of Chestertown, MD and 5 great-grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Vi’s life at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 515 Loch Haven Road, Edgewater, MD on Monday, January 10 beginning at 10:30am with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 12 noon. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum in Annapolis. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Highway, Pasadena, MD 21122. Please take a moment to sign the family's online guest book.
