irginia “Ginny” Dunphy Diesenberg, 85, a 22 year resident of Annapolis, MD, including 20 years in Heritage Harbour and most recently of Ginger Cove died on March 16, 2010 at the Anne Arundel Medical Center. Born November 27, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY, Ginny lived for 33 years on Long Island before moving to Annapolis in 1988. Her first husband, Kenneth Eide, a photographer for LOOK Magazine, died in 1956. In 1960, she married Robert Diesenberg, an Industrial Arts Teacher in Great Neck, NY. He died in 1978. Mrs. Diesenberg received her BA degree from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland. She was an active, dedicated alumna. Ginny was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Crofton, MD. Besides raising eight children, Ginny was an active volunteer in Scouts, church and school organizations, as well as at Mercy Hospital on Long Island, NY. She was the beloved mother of Curt Diesenberg of Avon, NY, Stephen Diesenberg of Baltimore, MD, Scott Diesenberg of Mechanicsville, VA and Paul Diesenberg of Ontario, NY, Jean Marie Hofstetter of Crofton, MD, Maureen Deegan of Mattituck, NY, Frances Peckham of Herndon, VA and the late Valerie DiLapi; sister of Edward J. Dunphy of Vero Beach, FL; also survived by 19 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Mass will be offered on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1800 Seton Drive, Crofton, MD 21114. Interment private. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to College of Notre Dame Scholarship Fund, 4701 North Charles Street, Baltimore, MD 21210 or St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.
