irginia S. Howells, 95, of Davidsonville,
died September 17, 2012 at Severna Park
Center where she had been a resident for
several years. Virginia was born in Chicago and
moved to Seat Pleasant, MD at an early
age where she was raised and educated.
She and her husband, William A.
Howells, moved to Davidsonville in 1970
where she was as active in the Davidson-
ville United Methodist Church as she had
been in the Methodist Church in Seat Pleasant.
Her favorite pastime was reading, and she
was an avid reader of novels, biographies and
histories, especially English histories.
She baked delicious pies (Bill’s favorite
dessert) for all family, church and civic occasions.
She could make a cherry pie quick as a cat
could wink an eye…
Mrs. Howells was preceded in death by her
husband of 58 years, her daughter, Joanne
Cannon; and two brothers, Buck Hastings
(Lois) and Donald Hastings (Agnes).
Surviving are her son, Dennis Howells (Ann)
of Carrollton, TX; grandchildren, Jeffrey
Neviaser (Kathy) of Arnold, MD, Russell
Howells (Deana) of Flower Mound, TX and
Denise Howells of Carrollton, TX; and great
grand-children, Christian and Sara-Rose.
She is also survived by a sister, Jean
Anderson of Davidsonville; a brother, Bob
Hastings of Edgewater, and many nieces,
nephews and cousins. Friends are invited to Virginia's Life
Celebration on Friday, September 21, from 2 to 4
