Virginia Settle - Obituary

irginia Lee Settle nee Sydnor Virginia Lee Settle, 88, a 12-year resident of Lothian, MD and previously of Suitland, MD, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 surrounded by her family. She was born on April 25, 1926 in Washington, D.C., to the late Allen and Mary Sydnor. She received her Nursing degree from St. Mary’s in Leonardtown, MD and was the owner/operator of Settle’s Personal Care Home, where she provided care for the elderly. Virginia was a very devout Catholic, teaching Sunday school and participating in many bible study groups. Her interests included quilting and cooking and she was a prolific painter/artist. In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her two husbands; John Henry Settle, Sr and Andrew Paul Norris, one daughter; Patricia Ann Manuel and one son; John Henry Settle, Jr. She is survived by her daughters; Mary Dawn Woods, Wanda Lee Nelson, Evelyn Marie Settle, six grandchildren; Rachelle Woods, Heather Barthel, Jennifer Goins, James Nelson, Jessie Manuel and Sara Shackelford, 12 great-grandchildren; Tristan Hinman, Fiona Hinman, Emma Nelson, Jack Goins, Joshua Goins, Michael Barthel, Jonah Goins, Ethan Barthel, James Barthel, Riley Nelson, Mylee Robinson and Kalel Shackelford. Friends may call on Tuesday, January 20 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 14908 Main Street, Upper Marlboro, MD from 10am until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon.
