Virginia Ward - Obituary

irginia L. Ward, 81, of Edgewater, died of cancer Sept. 26 at the Mandrin Hospice House in Harwood. Born Feb. 9, 1926, in Wythe County, Va., Ms. Ward retired in 1988 from the Canteen Corp. where she had worked for many years. She moved to Edgewater four years ago and was a member of the South County Senior Center. Her interests included travel, spending time in downtown Annapolis feeding the ducks and eating dinner at a nearby restaurant. Surviving are two daughters, Patti Foster of Edgewater and Donna Hungerford of Mount Airy; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and her companion, Joe Blonder. She had a deceased grandson. A celebration of life will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, where services will be at 1 p.m. Monday. Burial will follow in Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Tug McGraw Foundation, 1303 Jefferson St., Suite 100B, Napa, CA 94559.
