ivian M. Chojnowski, 93, a 70-year resident of Annapolis, MD and formerly of Curtis Bay, MD, died on Monday, May 11, 2026, in Delaware following complications from dementia. Born July 3, 1932, in Baltimore City, MD, she was affectionately as “Viv” to family and friends, Vivian was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose love, compassion, and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her. She was selfless, thoughtful, and generous, always placing the needs of others before her own. Her warmth, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends will be deeply missed and forever remembered. A graduate of Eastern High School, Class of 1951, Vivian continued her studies at Maryland Institute, College of Art, where her lifelong passion for creativity flourished. She was an accomplished artist and active member of the Maryland Federation of Art, proudly exhibiting and selling many of her works. Her art reflected her vibrant spirit and the beauty she brought into the lives of others. Vivian dedicated her professional career to the State of Maryland, where she earned the respect and admiration of many, including Bob Ehrlich and Ellen Sauerbrey, and became well known within the political community for her dedication, professionalism, and hard work. Vivian was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Annapolis, MD. She loved painting, spending time in nature, and especially cherished time spent with family at their cabin at The Woods in West Virginia. Vivian was preceded in death by her beloved husband and high school sweetheart, Edward Walter Chojnowski, whom she married on December 22, 1951; her son, Edward W. Chojnowski, Jr.; and her brother, Anthony Waytekunas. She is survived by her son, Robert A. Chojnowski of Elkton, MD; her daughters-in-law, Jennifer Chojnowski and Lori Chojnowski; four grandchildren, Ryan (Alexis) A. Chojnowski, Kelsie R. Chojnowski, Julia E. Chojnowski, and Anna K. Chojnowski; two great-grandchildren, William R. Yeates, IV and Tatum E. Yeates; and her sister, Yvonne Waytekunas of Towson, MD, along with many extended family members and dear friends. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Vivian’s life on Sunday, May 17, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD, where a funeral service will be held on Monday, May 18, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. Interment Lakemont Memorial Gardens, Davidsonville, MD.
