Walter Almeda - Obituary

alter Scott Almeda, 82, of Annapolis, died of respiratory failure Nov. 10 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie. Mr. Almeda was born Nov. 13, 1924, in Boston, Mass., to the late Walter B. and Ruth Scott Almeda. He earned an economics degree from Harvard University and served in the Navy during World War II aboard the USS Winslow. During his 35-year career with Sears, he was manager of the Montgomery Mall store in Bethesda. He served on the board of trustees of Suburban Hospital in Bethesda. In his retirement he stayed active as a job-training consultant for Job Training Program Assistance. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Judith Tite Almeda; two daughters, Lisa Sumner of Hilton Head, S.C., and Laurie Gamliel of Potomac; one brother, Alden Almeda of Colorado; one sister, Marilyn Hansen of Plymouth, Mass.; and 10 grandchildren. Services are private. Arrangements are by Kalas Funeral Home in Edgewater.
