alter James Clark "Walt", a 55-year resident of Upper Marlboro, MD, passed peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, December 27, 2015. He was 87. Born October 3, 1928 in Washington, DC to the late Percy M. and Mary K. Clark. He was the beloved husband of 59 years to Catherine Marie Clark. Father of the late Douglas O. Clark- wife Cheryl and Walter A. Clark, wife - Brenda. Brother of Elizabeth C. DeMent. Grandfather of Natalie M. Falcone , Mathew A. Clark and Scott D. Miller. He was also blessed with eight great-grandchildren. Walt attended the University of Maryland where he received his Bachelor of Science in 1953 followed by an MBA from American University in 1961. He was a founding member of the University of Maryland Gymkana Troupe. Walt served in the United States Navy where his love of aviation was born. He was employed for 33 years with Bell Atlantic (now Verizon) until his retirement in 1989. Walt felt it was his civic duty to serve his community. A member of the Upper Marlboro Lions Club for over 50 years. For years he played Santa for children at various hospitals and Lions club events. Chairman of the Lions Club Bloodmobile Drive through the American Red Cross for over 30 years. He held multiple positions over 20 years with Junior Achievement USA. He was associated with the American Heart Association for over 20 years and as Chairman of the Heart fund in 1983. He was awarded an Emeritus position after years of service to the Queen Anne School Board of Directors. Friends are invited to a celebration of Walt's life at St. Barnabas Church, 14111 Oak Grove Road, Upper Marlboro, MD on Saturday, January 16, 2015 at 10am. A remembrance gathering will immediately follow the service at St. Mary's of the Assumption School, 4610 Largo Road, Upper Marlboro, MD. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Upper Marlboro Volunteer Fire Department, 14815 Pratt Street, Upper Marlboro, MD 20772. or the American Heart Association, 217 E.
