W

alter Lewis Myer, a 29-year resident of Harwood, MD and previously of Edgewater, MD, died of COPD on Wednesday, October 18, 2017, following a 16-month illness. Affectionately was known as Walt, Pop Pop, PePaw, and Poppy; he was born on February 4, 1932, in Washington, D.C. to the late John Christian Myer and Margaret Elizabeth Becker. Walt graduated from Bladensburg Senior High School in 1950 and then enlisted in the United States Army. He served his country from 1950- 54. Following his military service, Walt received his Masters Certificate in Project Management and worked for Local 602 in Washington, D.C. for 52 years. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Gambrills, MD, and American Legion Post 226 in Edgewater, MD. Walt enjoyed fishing, his yard, and antique automobiles. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, his siblings, Robert, Arthur, James, John, Clarence, Ruth, and Peggy Myer preceded him in death. Walt is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Sally Jane Myer; four children, John P. Myer of Churchton, MD, James M. Myer of Annapolis, MD, Susan Myer DiSilvestre of Harwood, MD and Pamela L. Kremer of Davidsonville, MD. He is also survived by his ten grandchildren, Raymond W. DiSilvestre, III, Amy E. Sample, Samuel M. and Steven J. Kremer, Malik DiSilvestre, Mari Jayne Rogers and Mark, Michael, Andrew, and Paula M. Myer; and 14 great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD on Friday, October 27, 2017, from 5 to 7 pm. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 28 at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, 1370 Defense Hwy, Gambrills, MD. Interment Lakemont Memorial Gardens, Davidsonville, MD.
