W

alter "Walt" Leonard Oliver, 75, a resident of Annapolis for 23 years and previously of Glen Burnie, died of pulmonary fibrosis Oct. 31 at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Mr. Oliver was born Oct. 29, 1932, in New York, N.Y., and graduated in 1950 from Mount St. Joseph High School in Baltimore. He served as an airman 1st class in the 99th Strategic Reconnaissance Wing of the Air Force at Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane, Wash., from 1951 to 1955. He was a senior administrative and support manager with Crown Central Petroleum Corp. at its supply and transportation division in Millersville from October 1971 until retiring in January 1993. He was a Eucharistic minister at St. John Neumann Catholic Church. He managed and umpired Little League baseball in the Baltimore area, and was a fan of the Orioles, Ravens and Maryland Terps basketball. He enjoyed golf and was a member of Heritage Harbour Golf Club and Eisenhower Golf Club where he played in the Senior Men's Golf League. Surviving are his wife, Joycelyn Oliver, whom he married Dec. 25, 1951; one son, Keith Oliver of Hampstead; one daughter, Katherine Smith of Ellicott City; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Visitation is from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, November 4, 2007 at Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. A Mass of Christian burial will be said at 9:30 a.m. Monday, November 5, 2007 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church. 620 N. Bestgate Road. Burial will follow in Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville
