Walter Lee Tolliver, 87, a 64-year resident of Annapolis, died at his home on December 24, 2013 surrounded by his family.
He was born on May 10, 1926 in Bledsoe, Kentucky to the late Bill and Rachael Tolliver. Walter was a self employed carpenter and served his country during World War II in the US Army.
He was a member of Weems Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed building homes, Bluegrass music and Western movies. He also enjoyed reading the bible, spending time with his family and the warmth of sitting next to his wood stove.
Walter was predeceased by his wife Cora Lee Tolliver, one brother; Chester Tolliver and two sisters; Sally Davis and Jane Tolliver.
He is survived by his children; Connie (Robert) Houghland of Hanover, PA, Walter (Deborah) Tolliver of West River and Robert (Linda) Tolliver of Annapolis and a nephew Chester Davis of Harlan, Kentucky. Also survived by his grandchildren; Cortney, Christina, Robert, Jordan, Lauren, Corey and Colin and 4 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call on Sunday, December 29 from 6 to 8pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 30 at 11am at St. James Parish, 5757 Solomons Island Rd., Lothian, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. James Parish.
