W

arren Maclane “Mac” Spicknall, Sr., 95, a resident of Riva, MD for 68 years, passed away at his home on January 4, 2016 surrounded by his family. Born on March 27, 1920 in Birdsville, MD to the late William and Elizabeth Spicknall, Mac served in U.S. Army during World War II in Mideast Asia as a Tech Sergeant with the 711th Combat Engineers. He made a career in the construction industry and retired from John Driggs Construction Company in 1986. Mac enjoyed hunting, gardening, auto repair, bird watching and fishing. Mac was preceded in death by three brothers, W. Franklin Spicknall, Henry Eugene Spicknall and James William Spicknall, and by his sister, Victoria Elizabeth Ward. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Jennie Spicknall; two sons, Warren (Jan) Spicknall, Jr. of Crownsville and Paul (Ellen) Spicknall of Annapolis; seven grandchildren, Jason, Tevis, Luke and Kerith Spicknall, Heather Burns, Erin Worth and Jessica Butler; and nine great-granchildren. Friends are invited to celebrate Mac’s life from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 8 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 9 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
