ayne Collison, a life long resident of Mayo died at his home on April 13, 2014 after a brief illness. He was 71.
Born January 13, 1943 in Annapolis to the late Sarah Jane (Tucker) Collison and Malcolm Dawson Collison. He attended Mayo Elementary and graduated from Annapolis High School in 1961, where he met and married his wife of 52 years, Sherrie (Luzi). Wayne was co-owner of Lee Hi Shell in Arlington, VA for 25 years, and recently semi-retired after 24 years with Bausum & Duckett Electric company as a mechanic and equipment operator. He was the President of Colts Corral #23 and a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Edgewater. Wayne enjoyed boating, fishing, water skiing, NASCAR, cutting grass and tinkering in the garage.
Wayne will be sorely missed by his family and friends. He will be remembered as a loyal, honest and hardworking man with a sense of humor and a devotion to his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Billy; a sister, Norma Jane Hedin; and two sons, Joe and Billy Collison.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Sherrie; one son, John Collison and his wife, Garda Menghetti of Tampa, FL; one brother Donnie Collison and his wife, Linda of Mayo; one sister, Joyce Mauk-Miller and her husband, Tommy of West River; and three grandsons, Charles Collison of Davidsonville and Jack and David Collison of Tampa, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be offered at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 515 Loch Haven Rd, Edgewater, on May 3, 2014 at 10am. Interment private.
