W

ayne Lewis Crosby, 73, a 48-year resident of New Carrollton, MD, died on August 24, 2011 in Edgewater, MD of Lymphoma following a 3 year illness. Born June 21, 1938 in Washington, DC, to the late Lewis and Barbara Crosby, he graduated from Bethesda Chevy Chase High School. Following high school, Wayne served in the United States Coast Guard from 1956-64. He was employed as a telephone technician with C & P Telephone and AT&T in the Washington DC area for 40 years. Mr. Crosby was a member of River Road Presbyterian Church. His hobbies included woodworking, boating and spending time with his grandchildren. Wayne also had a passion for History. He is survived by his wife, Joretta Mae Cox Crosby, whom he married on September 9, 1961; one son, Kevin Wayne Crosby and his wife Christina of Durham, North Carolina; two daughters, Karen Marie Crosby Raeder and her husband Matthew Raeder of Severn, MD and Christina Lynn Crosby Wyant and her husband Brian Wyant of Seminole, FL; two brothers, Warren Crosby of Edgewater, MD and Wesley Crosby of Bethesda, MD; one sister, Marilyn Crosby Andersen of Montgomery Village, MD; seven grandsons, Jonathan Matthew Raeder of Severn, MD, David Christian Wyant of Seminole, FL, Adam Wayne Raeder of Severn, MD, Kyle Wayne Crosby of Durham, NC, Paul Joseph Raeder of Severn, MD, Ryan Lee Crosby of Durham, NC and Luke Joseph Crosby of Durham, NC; and two granddaughters, Rebekah JoAnn Wyant and Hannah Marie Wyant, both of Seminole, FL. Friends are invited to Wayne’s Life Celebration on Thursday, September 1, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd. Edgewater, MD. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 2nd, at 11:00 AM at The Church at Severn Run, 8187 Telegraph Road, Severn, MD 21144. Interment Parklawn Memorial Park, Rockville, MD.
