(Bunnie) Miller and the late Richard V. and William E. Miller and Debra Miller Sweeney; brother-in-law of Karen Miller, Daniel G. and Tracy E. Mullen; godfather of William Barnett. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Wayne graduated from Surrattsville HS in Clinton, MD and enlisted in the United States Army serving 3 years and making the rank of Sergeant. He served one year in combat as a track commander in Vietnam and was the recipient of three Purple Hearts, The Bronze Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation and several other citations and medals. He leaves behind life long friends and “brothers” Gerard McSorley and Stephan Falkenstein, lifelong friend Patricia Harris, and special Army Comrade and friend Harry Lampart. Wayne loved drawing and painting and his natural artistic talent was passed on to his two children in different ways. He left behind many pieces in different genres, which will hang on our walls and some of his friends walls forever. He also loved fishing, which he had not been able to do in many years. His love of Genealogy resulted in several volumes of certified family history that will be housed in the Virginia Genealogy achieves. We have to include our many family pets; Princess, Tigger, Sammie, Jazzie (the cats), Lady (the dog), Big Wig (the rabbit), as he loved them all and they too became his friends and companions. Wayne was a Member of the Purple Heart Assoc., Veterans of Foreign Wars, Army Historical Foundation Member, Tribal Member of the Patawomack Indians of Virginia and the Virginia Geneology Society. “Now cracks a noble heart. Good-night sweet prince; And flights of angels sing thee to they rest.” -William Shakespeare Relatives and friends are invited to Wayne's Celebration of Life at the GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, 6160 Oxon Hill Rd., Oxon Hill, MD on Wednesday, May 20 from 1 to 3pm and 5pm until service time at 7pm.
