illiam "Bill" Bailey Jr., 61, a longtime resident of Davidsonville, died from a sudden cardiac event Sept. 27 at the Anne Arundel Medical Center.
Born Sept. 9, 1946, in Kentucky, Mr. Bailey graduated from the University of Maryland, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in business. He also attended Special Operations Training School in Fort Bragg, N.C.
Mr. Bailey served in the Army as a Green Beret with Special Forces during which time he was involved in military campaigns in six of the seven continents. He was an engineer and demolitions expert.
He was also the owner of a bar, entrepreneur and superintendent of project management for Birchwood Homes.
His interests included the Baltimore Ravens football, gardening, golf, reading, playing basketball, exercising and challenging himself. He was a regular at the Green Turtle in Edgewater.
Surviving are his wife, Paula Keenan; one step-son, Joe Keenan Jr. of Annapolis; one daughter, Dawn Myers of York, Pa.,and two stepdaughters Erin Seif of Collierville, Tenn., and Jennifer Hoey of Columbia, Md.; one sister, Jean King of Davidsonville; his mother, Mary L. Helmick of Simpson, W.Va.; and six grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Donald and Douglass Bailey, and Wanda King.
Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road in Edgewater. Interment will be held at a later date.
