illiam “Aubrey†Bryant of Annapolis, Maryland, previously of Woodbridge, Virginia, died on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at his residence. He was born on February 25, 1926 in Silver Spring, Maryland to the late Waverly Irving and Mabel Goyne Bryant. Mr. Bryant attended Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring, Maryland. He joined the navy during World War II and served with distinction aboard the Battleship USS Pennsylvania. He was a member of the 51st Division and participated in numerous naval engagements. Mr. Bryant was a seamen first class and was very proud of his service to his country. After returning home from WWII he pursued a career in landscaping, started his own company and eventually retired from his landscaping business. He was a member of the Marsh Road Baptist Church in Woodbridge, Virginia and a member of the 51st Division of the USS Battleship Pennsylvania. Mr. Bryant enjoyed travelling, reading and was an avid Redskin fan. He was a choral singer and performed at Redskin games and other venues in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan region. He was predeceased by his wife Helen Barley Bryant. They were married in 1968 and she died on June 26, 2009, one brother, Waverly I. Bryant, Jr. and one sister, Joan Harding. He is survived by one son, William A. Bryant II of Annapolis, Maryland and four daughters, Cathy Ireland of Springvale, Maine, Rebecca L. Saenz, who took care of her dad for the past year, of Annapolis, Maryland, Julie J. Bryant of Holland, Michigan and Connie L. Mansfield of Raleigh, North Carolina and one sister, Sarah O'Keefe of Silver Spring, Maryland. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to Mr. Bryant's Life Celebration on Saturday, February 20 from 11:00AM until time of service at 12noon at GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. Interment on Wednesday, February 24 at 1:00PM at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville,MD.
