illiam “Bill” Edward Harte, 80, a 16-year resident of Heritage Harbour in Annapolis and previously of Lanham, died May 7 at Somerford Place due to Alzheimer’s Disease. Born July 2, 1932 in Cranston, RI, Bill received a Bachelor of Science degree in physics from Providence College. His graduate studies took him to Dartmouth and the University of Maryland. He worked as a physicist for the N.S.A. for 34 years. Bill was a devout Catholic and served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Matthias Catholic Church in Lanham. He was an avid Redskins fan. He also enjoyed fishing and creative writing and poetry. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Eileen M. Harte, two sons, William (Lauren) Harte, Jr. of California and Thomas (Debbi) Harte of Virginia; two daughters, Deborah (Scott) Schmidt of Laurel and Virginia (Dave) Titus of Mount Airy; a brother, Joseph (Eileen) Harte of New York; and 10 grandchildren: Elizabeth and Julia Harte; Joseph, Nicole and Tyler Harte; Alexander and Yelena Schmidt; and Matthew, Nicholas and William Titus. Friends are invited to Bill’s Life Celebration from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, May 13 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 14 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1800 Seton Drive, Crofton. Interment Lakemont Memorial Gardens.
