illiam Edwin JeffersWilliam Edwin Jeffers “Willie”, a 31 year resident of Edgewater, Maryland died on Saturday March 28, 2009 at his residence. He was 66. Born August 25, 1942 in Seymour, Indiana, to Charles W. and Eva Mikel Jeffers, he graduated from Clear Spring High School, in Clear Spring, Indiana. Willie served in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam war, and received the Purple Heart, Vietnamese Service Medal & Campaign Medal, Armed Forces Expedition Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Rifle Marksmanship Badge. After his military duty, Willie worked for and retired from the GSA as well as Local 26 (IBEW). Willie was past commander of VFW Post 482 in Forestville. MD and a member of the American Legion Post 226, Mayo, MD and enjoyed working crossword puzzles, playing pool, darts and enjoyed nature. Willie is survived by his wife Glenda Lea Jeffers, of Edgewater, whom he married in January of 1970, his son Michael Wayne (Kelly) Jeffers of Laurel Fork, VA, and his daughters, Brenda Lea(Michael) Spies and Melissa Ann Jeffers, both of Edgewater, MD, and his siblings, Charles Jeffers of Spring Hill, FL, Ronnie Jeffers of Pensacola, FL, Charlotte Perry of Seymour, Indiana and Mary Stuckwisch of Brownstown, Indiana. and the late Thomas and Fred Jeffers. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Sierra, Megan, and Ryan Spies, and many nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to Willie's Life Celebration on Thursday April 2, 2009 from 2-4 & 6-8pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD where funeral services will be held on Friday, April 3, at 1pm. Interment to follow at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville, MD.
