William F. Kirby, Jr. - Obituary

r. William Franklin Kirby, Jr., age 84, passed away on August 16, 2023 at Anne Arundel Medical Center. He was known by his childhood nickname “Cotton” to his family and friends. Born on December 11, 1938, in Edgewater, Maryland to the late William Kirby, Sr. and Thelma Howard Kirby, he spent most of his life in the Arnold and Annapolis areas. He was a skilled electrician, initially working for his father’s company, Wm. F. Kirby and Sons Electric, and later the Naval Academy from where he retired. He enjoyed playing baseball in his younger years and golf in his later years. He was one of seventeen children with only one surviving brother, Ronald Kirby, of Stevensville, Maryland. He is survived by his three children, William Franklin Kirby, III, Jennifer Lee (Kirby) Berry of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Joshua Lee Coultas of Baltimore, Maryland; three grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Per his request, he chose to be cremated and did not want a funeral service.
