illiam (Bill) Bakos Laslo, 84, died at Anne Arundel Medical Center on Thursday, November 24 surrounded by family. Born on July 20, 1927 to Andrew Bakos and Louise Molnar Bakos in Windber, PA., he was the 16th of 17 children. Upon his parents’deaths, he was adopted by his father’s coal mining partner Joseph and his wife Anna Laslo and raised as an only child. In his late teens he was also reunited with Bakos siblings. He served in the US Marine Corp in 1945-46 and later earned a bachelor’s degree from Concord College, Athens, WV; and a Masters in Education from George Washington University. He had a 30-year career in elementary, science, outdoor education and curriculum supervision in Prince George’s County public schools and retired in 1981. Bill also founded and operated Laslo Recreational Enterprises managing community swim clubs in Prince George’s County for many years. He was an organizer of the PrinceMont swim league. Later he became “Poolman”, a residential pool care specialist, until 1997. He was a founding member of the educators’ credit union in Prince George’s County in1955 and later served on the Board of Directors of Educational Systems Federal Credit Union for 20 years. He married Monticello “Monti” Reynolds Laslo in 1982 and they moved from Springfield, VA to Heritage Harbour in Annapolis in 1995. There, Bill continued his many outdoor and other sports interests including hunting, crabbing, fishing, billiards, and duck carving. With Monti, he enjoyed dance, golf, snow skiing and travel. He was a giving friend to everyone he met. He is survived by his wife Monti; four daughters, Lizabeth Saade of Johnstown, PA, Tina (Jack) Fullerton of Port Tobacco, MD, Michele Hardman of Annapolis and Cyndi (Chris) Hargrove of Crownsville; a son, Steven (Joanna) Laslo of Berlin, MD. Grandchildren are: Laurena Saade of Omaha NE; Michael and Amber Saade of Phoenix AZ; Kyle Laslo of St. Petersburg, FL, Chelsea Fullerton of Port Tobacco and Cierra Hargrove of Crownsville. He is also survived by his former wife, Cosette S. Laslo, the mother of his four youngest children. Friends are invited to join the family on Saturday December 10 for a Celebration of Bill’s Life from 12 noon until his memorial service begins at 1:00 pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd, Edgewater, MD. Private interment will take place at a later date at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Anne Arundel Medical Center Foundation, 2001 Medical Center Parkway, Annapolis, MD 21401.
