William Poet - Obituary

illiam Royce "Bill" Poet died on March 22, 2016, at his home in Edgewater. Born on February 26, 1948, in York, PA, Bill was the only child of the late William D. and Julia Poet. After graduating from Penn State in 1970, Bill’s career was spent working in various capacities in the plumbing and heating industry. He retired from Krick Plumbing and Heating in Hyattsville in October of 2014. Bill was a member of the Annapolis Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was passionate about Penn State football and all things Penn State. He was an avid reader and also enjoyed photography and home repair projects. Bill learned to love dogs and will be missed by his faithful four-legged friend, Lily. His grandchildren were the highlight of his life these past few years. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Sharon; his dedicated sons, Ryan (Michele) Poet of Bel Air, MD and Cory Poet of Arlington, VA and his grandchildren, Nicolas and Sofia. He was also genuinely cherished by many other family, friends, and coworkers. Friends are invited to celebrate Bill's life with his family on Friday, March 25, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd, Edgewater, MD where his funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 26 at 12 noon.
