illiam T. Reed, 89, of Annapolis, MD, died peacefully on July 2, 2010, at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Born May 21, 1921, in Elmhurst, NY, he was the son of the late William and Jessica Reed. He enlisted in the Army for four years during World War II and was stationed in Italy and Morocco. Following his enlistment, he attended Hofstra University and graduated with a B.A. degree. He was employed by the Sperry Rand Corp. in Great Neck, NY, for 40 years. Bill enjoyed the Yankees, the Washington Redskins, Notre Dame football, jazz, especially Benny Goodman, the New York Times Sunday crossword puzzles, model trains and spending time with his many grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Frances K., and his son, Peter. He is survived by one sister, Marie Brouillet, of Dumfries, VA, and four sons and three daughters and their families: Bill and Jody Reed of Flemington, NJ, Christine and Christopher Hopmann of Annapolis, MD, Kathy and Ken Tricomi of Salisbury Mills, NY, Mark and Kris Reed of Hicksville, NY, Tim and Lynn Reed of Morris Plains, NJ, Jeanette Reed, of Forest Hills, NY, and Terence Reed, of Goshen, NY. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren. Friends are invited to William's Life Celebration on Thursday, July 8, 2010, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD 21037. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, July 9, 2010, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church,109 Duke of Gloucester St., Annapolis, MD 21401. Burial will follow at Quantico National Ceremony. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Boy's Town (www.boystown.org) or the Ronald McDonald Foundation (www.rmhc.org).
