illiam Charles Robertson, “Bill”, 93, a resident of Annapolis, MD and formerly of Ormond Beach, FL and Deer Park, NY, passed away on September 26, 2022. Born January 6, 1929, in Tamaqua, PA to the late Melvin and Doris Robertson, Bill received a Bachelor of Physical Education from SUNY- Brockport and later earned his Master of Education from Hofstra University. He worked as a teacher and administrator for 34 years. Over his career, Bill worked at Wyandanch Union Free School District as a Physical Education Teacher and Administrator, and at Hauppauge School District as a Physical Education Teacher. He also worked at Republic Airport as a dispatcher. Bill proudly served his country during the Korean War from 1951-1953 as a Sergeant in the 51st Signal Battalion and was the recipient of the Bronze Service Star. Bill was an avid golfer and his other interests included reading, aviation, and University of Florida and United States Naval Academy football. He was also a booster for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s men’s basketball program. Bill is survived by his wife of 67 years, Joanne Robertson; his children, Lynn Reale and her husband, Ralph of Commack NY, Jay Robertson and his wife, Christine of Annapolis, MD, and Scott Robertson and his wife, Angela of Forest Hill, MD. He is also survived by one granddaughter, Taylor Robertson; seven grandsons, Jason, Justin, and Jonathan Sessa, Chandler, Cole, Matthew, and Bryce Robertson; and five great-grandchildren. Bill set a wonderful example as a devoted and loving husband who noted on his 90th birthday, that, in his mind, the most remarkable thing he had done in his life was to ask Joy to marry him. Always willing to help, he will be remembered for his willingness to take on any project big or small, his smile, his sense of humor, and the pride he had in his family. A private family graveside service, with military honors, will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at 2:30 pm at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 1122 Sunrise Beach Rd., Crownsville, MD 21122. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor and memory of William Charles Robertson to Gilchrest Hospice, 11311 McCormick Road Suite 350, Hunt Valley, MD 21031.
